Schemas - beta

Basic information

Schemas are available for the individual agendas in the API.
We support XML Schema (XSD) version 1.0 and Relax NG (RNG) schemas.

Schemas are not linked with the data in the XML; you will find the links only in the XML comments and in the documentation of the given agenda.

Extensibility

The interface evolves: parameters and elements may be added and removed, and coping with that is up to the client. The client is to ignore unknown elements, attributes and values. The meaning of an existing element does not change. The schemas change with every extension – a client that validates the output must use the current schema after an extension. Every change is recorded in the changelog.

Standard vs enum version

Some agendas refer to the so-called enum version - it contains some elements (e.g. the list of motorcycle manufacturers) as an enumeration instead of the standard restriction.
However, this does not replace the complete lists from the agenda lists.

Export vs import version

Some agendas distinguish between an export and an import version.
export contains the description of the data as we export them from our server.
import contains the description of the data corresponding to the initial insertion of an ad. When updating, only the changed elements can be sent, so the list of required and optional elements may differ.

Schemas do not cover error messages

The schemas do not yet take into account the error messages returned when agendas are called incorrectly.
