Supported formats

The REST API can export and import data in various formats.
The type of the output format is determined by the extension (.xml, .json).

The API supports the following formats:

XML	Machine-readable structure in XML format. XML is the native format of the API When reading, the first structure contains explanatory comments	`.xml`	yes
JSON	Machine-readable structure in JSON format.	`.json`	yes
HTML	HTML page for displaying information on a web page.	`.htm` `.html`	no
JPG	Photo. Only for retrieving a specific photo	`.jpg`	no

Internally the system works with the XML format, and the other formats (JSON, HTML) are converted from/to XML.
The XML format contains comments that describe the data.
